Retiring in Aggieland

College Station is in the top five for little known places to retire… according to USA Today. I agree! My husband and I came back to College Station in 1995 to raise our family. It was the best decision for us. College Station offers so much. We have cultural events and big sporting events too! Whoop!

But there is something else that I have noticed. It is how the youthfulness of the town affects those of us who are getting a little older. I think that living among the college students rubs off on us middle agers! When you go to the store or a restaurant, you see so many young people around. It makes us feel younger too! I love that!

In recent years, I have noticed many more people calling TM5 to inquire about purchasing their retirement home. Some want to be in the middle of the Aggies and settle in an area close to campus, like the Southside Historical area, while others want to be in a more family oriented neighborhood. Some are testing the waters by purchasing a gameday home. I have several clients who have done this. The extended family with the kids, grandkids and dogs come in for games and they even spend holidays there. Eventually, the soon to be retirees may make that gameday home their retirement home or save it as investment property and buy their retirement dream home.
