Located in Northeast College Station off of Texas Avenue and University Drive, College Hills is conveniently situated to everything having to do with TAMU campus life. This neighborhood is one of College Station’s oldest and most established located just east of the Texas A&M University campus with 550 homes. This area, also known as Eastgate, has historic significance to the city with several streets in the neighborhood being named after early period Presidents of Texas A&M University. College Hills is within one block of Texas A&M.
About College Hills
Today the neighborhood is a mixture of families and college students with home sizes ranging from 1,500 – 3,000 square feet and the lot sizes range anywhere from 8,500 – 15,000 square feet. The distinct architecture is an eclectic mix of homes from the traditional period as early as the 1930’s, all the way to contemporary construction in the early 1990’s. Because of its prime location near the Texas A&M University campus, you’ll find many properties in the area available for rent.
Located in the center of this historic neighborhood is Thomas Park. There you will find a spacious recreation area, paved jogging trails, tennis courts, covered picnic tables, and its very own public swimming pool. On the western edge of the neighborhood you will find a row of restaurants including Chili’s as well as Layne’s, which is a locally owned eatery known for its famous chicken fingers. Also, nearby is Fuego Tortilla Grill, another Aggieland staple known for being open continuously from Tuesday at 6 am all the way to Monday at 4 am! Other convenient driving destinations to and from College Hills include restaurant row and several shopping centers, all of which are just a short drive away through quiet neighborhood streets. College Hills Elementary School is located in the center of the neighborhood and is known for being an outstanding school.
