Curb Appeal

With summer just around the corner, I am sure you are more than ready for some time to relax with the family, and take a break from the chaos of life. Unfortunately, it seems that with each passing summer, I am more and more busy. Having been a seller during the summer myself, I sympathize with those attempting to sell their homes during these months. With kids home, vacation planning, and busy summer schedules, I was more than hopeful that my home would sell quickly. With all of the beautiful weather we have been having in the Bryan/College Station area, a great outdoor space will give your home great curb appeal this summer. Below, I have compiled a few ways to stage your outdoor space in an easy and inexpensive way. With green grass and lush landscapes, you have all the more reason to enhance your outdoor space for potential buyers this summer!

1. Potted Plants

Especially when you are trying to sell your home, you’re not going to want to spend the time and money on pricey landscaping. Beautiful and bright potted plants are moveable, easy to water, and add a great pop of color to your front door.

2. Front Door

A fresh coat of paint on the front door can make your home looker newer and clean. A bright and happy, yet tasteful color can attract buyers and bring about positive attention. Painting a door is simple and can take a few hours at the most. Instead of attempting big and timely projects, a fresh coat of paint can be just the right amount sprucing. If you’re looking for something even simpler, a front door wreath will do the trick.

3. Porch Accessories

Is your front door mat looking dingy and old? Try replacing it with something new and fresh. Buyers will be able to picture your house as their future “home” with a couple of friendly outdoor accessories. As an added bonus, a new mat will be a great accessory to use at your new home as well.

4. Patio Furniture

If you have a great backyard space, investing in patio furniture or even sprucing up your existing furniture will show buyers that your home has backyard potential. Adding a few outdoor pillows to your seating, or maybe cleaning the grill can highlight the space as an outdoor entertainment area, especially in these summer months. If you have children, make sure to highlight the fact your backyard is big and spacious enough for a swing set or trampoline!

5. Lawn Maintenance

A fresh cut lawn is one of the best ways to make your home look clean and fresh. The lawn is one of the first things buyers see. Make sure your lawn is freshly mowed and looking green. There is no excuse for brown grass anymore, it’s almost June!

The first thing a potential buyer sees is the front of the house. This can often make or break their decision. A good experience with a home’s exterior will make buyers more inclined to see the rest of the home in a positive light. Don’t let your potential buyers walk through the door with complaints. Give your home some quick and easy curb appeal this summer! The BCS Real Estate Market had an excellent spring. If you are selling your home this summer, go above and beyond by prepping your outdoor space!
