Proposed Three-Tier Underpass
As you know, the development of our city throughout the years can be simply summarized in two words: rapid growth. Being #3 of the Fastest Growing Cities in Texas, in addition to having the largest public University in this great state, Bryan/College Station really needs a big project to mobilize an expansion of our roads for easier means of transportation. Lucky for us, change should be coming our way! Texas A&M Transportation Institute Research Fellow Dr. Tim Lomax is currently working on one of the most impactful transportation projects ever planned for College Station: a proposed three-tier underpass at the intersection of George Bush Drive and Wellborn Road!
Bush-Wellborn is one of four gateways to the Texas A&M University campus. More than 60,000 vehicles travel through the intersection during the work week, and more than 20 Union Pacific trains cross it daily. However, this project isn’t being planned on beginning until 2022, following the widening of FM2818. What the Texas Department of Transportation is looking for now is citizen feedback, as this project may cause such as heavier traffic due to construction, or even some parts of these main roads being shut down during construction. Your opinion MATTERS!
