College Station Spring Sports: Texas A&M Teams Outshine Football in 2025

While Texas A&M football tends to dominate the spotlight each fall, Spring 2025 is proving that Aggieland pride runs much deeper than Saturdays at Kyle Field. This season, several of the university’s top athletic programs are not only competing—they’re legitimately chasing national titles.

For residents in College Station, there’s a buzz around town that’s impossible to miss. Whether you’re catching the highlights over brunch or running into players around campus, these teams are giving the community more than enough to cheer about.

Texas A&M Softball: A National Contender

The 2025 Aggie softball team is putting together one of the most dominant seasons in school history. Ranked as high as #1 in the nation in April, the team has powered its way to a 41-8 record behind a fierce lineup and solid pitching.

Eight players are hitting over .315, and stars like Amari Harper, Koko Wooley, Kennedy Powell, and Mac Barbara are batting well above .350. On the mound, senior Emiley Kennedy and junior Grace Sparks anchor a staff holding opponents to a .221 average and a team ERA of 2.61.

With postseason play kicking off May 8, fans are hopeful this squad will bring home the program’s second national title. It’s the kind of season you talk about for years—and one that’s making Davis Diamond the place to be this spring.

Women’s Tennis: Defending Champions, Still Dominant

Fresh off a 2024 national championship, the Aggie women’s tennis team hasn’t lost a step. They’re currently ranked #2 in the country and heading into NCAA postseason play with confidence.

Led by senior Mary Solana and a strong roster of underclassmen including Nicole Khirin and Lucciana Perez, this team has the depth and drive to make another run at the title. First and second rounds begin May 2, with Super Regionals following May 9–11. If all goes to plan, they’ll compete for a second consecutive national championship starting May 15 in Waco.

With so many young players making an impact, fans are already excited about what 2026 could bring too.

Men’s Track: Speed, Strength, and Serious Potential

Texas A&M’s men’s track team is another program making waves this spring. Currently #2 in the nation and the top-ranked SEC team, the Aggies are stacked with elite sprinters and middle-distance runners.

Senior Auhmad Robinson has posted the fastest 400m time in the country and the second-fastest 200m. Teammates Cutler ZamZow and Antonie Nortje also rank in the national top ten for the 400m, while Kimar Farquharson is a fraction of a second from the best 800m time in the nation.

Add in national contenders in the hurdles, plus a relay team with one of the fastest 4x400m times in the country, and this squad looks like a real threat to win it all at the Outdoor Championships in June.
