Southwood Valley and their administration are continually perfecting their talents in teaching so that they “can produce productive, engaging, creative, and innovative leaders” for the next generation. They have an understanding that they are teaching and molding the future generation of leaders, encouraging each and every student to let their strengths shine. With a campus slogan of “where dreams take flight,” the sense of community across parents, administration, and teachers allows their students to grow and add value to their campus.

Southwood Valley Elementary takes pride in their successful academic curriculum which met and exceeded all measured standards from the TEA, including student progress and postsecondary readiness. Not only did Southwood Valley exceed the TEA’s standards, they also received three distinction designations in academic achievement in ELA/reading, academic achievement in mathematics, and top 25% student progress. Outside of the classroom, Southwood Valley offers several exciting clubs and activities to their students including a singing chorus, guitar lessons, recorder lessons, other performances, enrichment, a spelling bee, UIL programs, and both chess and theater clubs. Additionally, a unique program to this elementary school are their dual language classrooms for each grade level and other bilingual programs, including a bilingual head start program. This 50/50 classroom offers both English and Spanish components to further their students’ education with literacy in both languages.

Sharing the name with a popular neighborhood in College Station, Southwood Valley Elementary School is located in the heart of the Southwood Valley and Southwood Forest subdivisions. Not far from the school are several different amenities as well, including a Walmart Supercenter, Brothers Pond Park, and even A&M Consolidated High School is just around the corner!
