Red Board Tavern & Table

OK friends, have you been to downtown Navasota recently? If you haven’t, you need to put it on your schedule! There’s something really special going on and you definitely need to go check it out. While you’re there, I know a place you have to go and try: Red Board Tavern & Table.

Located in the Railroad District, Red Board is just up the sidewalk from the historic P.A.Smith Hotel (another bucket list item) and Hamer’s Speakeasy. If the name Hamer doesn’t ring a bell, you may be surprised to learn that Frank Hamer – the legendary lawman that tracked down Bonnie & Clyde – was once the Navasota City Marshall. He personally led the posse in Louisiana that brought an end to the notorious couple’s killing spree. He’s quite revered in Navasota and even has a statue outside City Hall.

Now, when you step into Red Board Tavern & Table you can really feel some of that history. The extra long bar top is actually made from wood that was saved from the original building that was built on the site in the late 19th century. And when they opened in July of 2022 it was clear that no attention to detail was spared. The interior is a perfect blend of historic and casual modern. The style perfectly fits the “gourmet casual” atmosphere they’ve worked hard to create. It certainly seems they hit the mark!

Of course you want to know about the food, right? They have two menus – one for lunch and one for dinner. Whichever one you choose, you’re probably going to want to go back and try the other. The lunch menu has some amazing items including deep fried smoked gouda, pan seared Atlantic salmon caesar salad, and a pulled pork grilled cheese on garlic butter Texas toast. I get both hungry and tired just saying those names! The lunch menu is substantial, so you may want to have everyone in your party choose something different so you can try them all!

The dinner menu has just as much variety. From grilled bacon wrapped “Texas Farms” quail poppers to some amazing salad options to aged Black Angus ribeye steak. These don’t even begin to scratch the surface of their fantastic menu! And it isn’t just lunch and dinner you can enjoy. Not only do they have a large bar area, there’s also a room upstairs that can be reserved for private dining.
Red Board Tavern & Table is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Railroad Street runs off Washington Avenue in the heart of historic downtown. There is parking available on and off the street very near the restaurant.

I hope you’ll go give them a try and let me know what you think. As always, if you’re in the market to buy or sell a home in the area (including Navasota), text or give me a call. My team and I would love to help!
