Many former students of Texas A&M, especially those who graduated before 2010 have likely never considered the area north of the TAMU campus as a viable location option for a game day home. Well things have changed in a big way, as this area has been in a rapid renaissance for most of the last decade.
About the Northgate Area of College Station
The urbanization and aesthetic improvements to this region are amazing. The area specifically to the northeast of campus, which was historically used for married student housing over the decades, has now become an amazing recreational complex known as Century Square. This 60 acre development has been a true game changer for the real estate north of the A&M campus. Included in the Century Square complex are new hotels, eclectic restaurants, boutique shopping, vibrant entertainment venues with live music and much more. You can pretty much now think of Northgate as extending from Wellborn road all the way to Texas Avenue.
With Century Square providing a major real estate boost to this region of Bryan/College Station, the residential neighborhoods within near proximity have now taken on new meaning and purpose. North Oakwood is a good example. After an Aggie game you will love relaxing in this south Bryan neighborhood. Unique, custom-built homes on large wooded lots, spanning multiple generations defines the character of this great neighborhood. Less than one mile from 100,000 people at Kyle Field, you can still hear the crickets chirping in your backyard. It’s amazing that such a quiet and serene neighborhood can be less than two minutes north of the Texas A&M campus. Hensel Park borders the neighborhood and the beautiful park includes multiple pavilions, picnic areas and jogging trails. This is just one example of the many neighborhoods north of the TAMU campus that would make an ideal home for former students and Aggie fans.
As you travel due north on Texas Ave past University drive, there are many wonderful Bryan neighborhoods which are under a 5 minute drive to campus. Prices here are going to be more affordable in many cases than in either Southside or Eastgate.
