En Gedi Vineyards & Winery

From time to time we venture outside BCS and into one of the many wonderful small towns around the Brazos Valley. There are so many little hidden gems to uncover. From antique stores to artisan to artisan boutiques to wonderful eateries, there’s somewhere new to enjoy all the time. One of our most recent discoveries was in historic downtown Calvert, Texas, just 30 miles north of Bryan. Today I want to tell you about EN Gedi Vinyards & Winery.

The Texas wine market has continued to develop and grow over the years. Many Texans are familiar with the extensive wine industry in and around Fredricksburg, Texas. But there are some really nice wineries scattered all over the state and the Brazos Valley is home to several of them. En Gedi is one of those that is well worth checking out.

Located right in downtown Calvert, it’s got a wonderful small-town charm about it. There are a number of options for exploring what they have to offer, but I definitely recommend doing a wine tasting to zero in on your favorites. They offer varieties that you’re just not going to see elsewhere, like the Texas Tornado which comes from their Blanc Du Bois grape. It has just a hint of jalapeno. They also have a really nice Cabernet and just released their Port Sullivan, produced from their own Lenoir grapes. It is aged 3+ years in bourbon barrels and it’s great! These are just 3 of the 10 varieties available for tasting and you get to choose 5. Narrowing them down is not easy!

I think the charcuterie boards may be the best way to fully enjoy the wine tasting experience at En Gedi. The staff skillfully guides you on some of the best ways to pair your wine choices and the boards are absolutely gorgeous. Listen, this is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon or even make it an evening event. Grab a few friends and take a drive over to Calvert. It wouldn’t hurt to give them a call and let them know you’re coming, just so they can reserve you a table. (You can find their phone number online). In true Texas fashion, the hospitality is amazing and I think it’s going to be an experience you’ll want to share with your friends.

Whether you’re a Brazos Valley resident, a frequent visitor or just checking out the area in your search for your own little piece of Texas, I think you’ll enjoy spending some time at En Gedi Vineyards and Winery. And if you are looking to find a great property in our area I’d love to help you. Shoot me a text or give me a call today!
