Visitors and locals alike often love to explore a town’s historic neighborhoods and take in the wonderful variety of architecture that harkens back to days of old. One of the most ideal places to do that in the Brazos Valley is the Bryan East Side Historic District.
Recognized and formally established by the Bryan City Council in 1983, the East Side Historic District was established to help identify, protect & preserve the city’s rich architectural history. The area is generally bounded by East 29th, Ennis, Baker & 33rd Streets. Located within the district are homes dating as far back as the 1870s, with architectural styles that include Folk Victorian, Queen Anne, Tudor Revival, Neoclassical Revival, Craftsman and more. From quaint homes nestled among large oaks to large mansions on estate lots, the variety of sizes and styles is truly impressive.
Right in the middle of the neighborhood is Heritage Park. There is a magnificent columned gazebo in the center of the park frequently used for weddings, festivals & other celebrations. The park also has picnic tables, well-lit trails and even a beautiful bronze tribute sculpture. This lovely 3-acre park fits perfectly into the fabric of such a historic neighborhood and is definitely worth visiting for a stroll, picnic or party.
